Nevada Ranked No. 4 for Tax Climate

The Business Tax Climate Index which ranks all 50 states has just been released by the Tax Foundation, a non profit and non partisan tax research group in Washington, D.C. (www.TaxFoundation.org)
They ranked Nevada the 4th best tax climate for the first day of the 2011 fiscal year or July 1, 2010.
Nevada continually ranks high because it has no corporate or individual income tax. Nevada was ranked 4th for fiscal year 2009 and 3rd for fiscal year 2008.

Census data for 2010 shows Nevada gaining more population, by percentage, than any other state. From 2000 to 2010, Nevada’s population jumped from 1,998,257 to 2,700,551, an increase of 35.1 percent. Nevada is the 43rd ranked state in population.
Las Vegas is the 28th most populous city in the U.S., and the largest populated city in Nevada 583,786, as of 2010. The greater metropolitan area of Las Vegas has a population 1,901, 269. Las Vegas was first settled in 1905 and became a city in 1911. This means that 70% of Nevada’s population lives in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.
The Reno and Sparks combined population is around 420,000. Doing some rough and dirty math that means the rest of the state only has a population of 389,000
